WB 2/9/19

Welcome to Year 4!

We are very excited to see all the children on Tuesday 3rd September and hope they have had a lovely summer break.  This week the children will be focussing on visions and values.  They will be learning all about their class names as well as setting the ground rules for being in class and around the school.

Please remember the timings of the school day have now changed.  The gates will be open at 8.40am and closed at 8.50am now at the start of each day.  The end of the school day is at 3.00pm and the children will be dismissed from the double doors to the left of the dinner hall.

All children should be wearing full school uniform and come to school with the correct PE kit.  Please find the detailed lists of uniform on the school’s website.

We look forward to seeing you all – please don’t hesitate to come and speak to any of us during the week.

Thank you,

The Year 4 Team.

Trip to France 2020

France Trip 2020

As you will know from our letter in February, we are planning to offer Year 4 the opportunity of a day trip to the Montreuil area of France in June 2020. By this time Year 4 will have been learning French for two years and it is a great chance to put some language into practice! The trip will take place on a Saturday and will cost £97 (exact price/date tbc in September). The children will travel by coach and Eurotunnel, and will visit: a bakery to take part in pastry and bread making workshops (in French); a local town for lunch, and then a chocolate factory. The trip is booked through Schools Into Europe, and will be run by Kingsley staff volunteering their time. It is entirely optional. To attend this trip, your child would need a valid passport with at least 6 months left on it in June. The cost of this is not included in the trip, and any special requirements for travel, e.g. a visa, would be your responsibility to provide although of course we will help where possible.

You will receive letters in September asking if you would like your child to go on the trip, with details of deposits and the payment schedule. We will make sure that you can pay in instalments through Parentpay, over the autumn term, if you wish. We are letting you know now so that you can discuss this over the summer.

Many thanks from the MFL Team

Thank you

Thank you for all your hard work and support this year. We have had an amazing group of Year 3 children that we have been so lucky to teach.

We are very proud of all the children and what they have achieved this year!

We hope you have a fantastic summer and wish all our children the very best for Year 4.

Next term’s learning

w.b. 23.4.19

We hope you have had a restful holiday and we look forward to working with your children in the Summer term.

This week we will be starting our new topic, ‘Captain Planet’. We will be looking at recycling and rubbish and how it affects our planet. We will also explore magnets and their uses.

In maths, we will be looking at fractions using Cuisenaire Rods. We will be counting up and down in tenths as well as continuing to explore equivalent fractions.

This week’s learning

In the last week we wrote a letter to Charlie’s parents about his experience in the Chocolate Factory. We used descriptive language and adverbs throughout to help with our writing.

In maths we explored simple equivalent fractions.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the children for all their hard work this term, and to thank you for your continued support. We hope you have a restful holiday and we look forward to welcoming you back in two weeks time.
