Homework

Topic

Thank you to everyone who has brought in your Viking longhouses, longboats and presentations, they are fantastic! We will be starting a new project shortly.

Maths

During the school week children will have the opportunity to practise their times tables. On Friday they will be tested, so please help them learn their times tables. Quick recall of the times tables is the foundation for maths and will assist your child to become a member of club 144. https://www.timestables.co.uk/

Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling (GPS)

In GPS we will be revisiting the possessive apostrophe with singular proper nouns e.g. Claudia’s hat, looking at homophones and near-homophones e.g. weather/whether, whose/who’s and practising different strategies to help learn words from the Year 3/4 list as well as words children find personally challenging . The Year 3/4 spelling list can be found at the front of the ‘Home School Liaison’ books.

Reading

The expectation is that children read every day. ‘Home School Liaison’ books will be checked every day for either children’s or adult comments. Please sign each week to show your child is reading at home.

This week’s learning

Topic

This week we have learned all about who Alfred the Great was and what he is remembered for today. We also had a carousel activity across the year group where we learned about a different area of Anglo-Saxon history in each class. This was to help us conduct research for when we write our information texts.

Maths

We have done a lot of work on rounding to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000. We had to think about what multiples our number lines were counting in and the boundaries for rounding 2 digit, 3 digit and 4 digit numbers.

Stars of the Week:

Polo class – Amelia

Cousteau class – Thasan

Seacole class – Ismael
